Someone didn't feel good today....he threw up this morning all over the bed and the floor...poor dear....And the 'projectile' was pretty amazing...not quite like The Exorcist, but....it was quite a mess to clean up, I tell you....I felt so bad for him because I knew he didn't feel good and I think he is working on a hair-ball...So, after a while he went into his favorite place---the closet---to recover....then later, another favorite place, my leg...!Later later....that is much later, like mid-evening, he moved to one of his other favorite spots, the end of the bed.....!

What a beautiful kitty. Hope the vomiting hasn't continued ... pretty yucky stuff, isn't it. Poor baby, it's not nice when they don't feel well.

ReplyDeleteSweetie is certainly appropriately named! Gosh, is he ever sweet! And I sure hope his tummy feels better soon. My Foster had the same episodes this morning and I can tell he isn't feeling up to par. Wonder if they've been getting into holiday stuff? (like kitty egg nog?)
ReplyDeleteHow sweet Sweety looks in his sleep ! Poor boy, hairballs are something ! Old Lisa threws up quite often and especially in places where she can be sure you will walk in ! It's very nice when you stumble out of your bed and forgot to put your houseshoes on ! He, he, cats are fun !

ReplyDeleteI have to often clean up such messes as my poor cat is ill fairly regularly. He is 17 years old and is on a special diet and daily medication to support his kidneys. He still has great quality of life though and does not look or act his age!
I always find it sweet the way they head for their 'safe' favourite places and come to us for comfort the way Sweetie did with you!

I hope Sweetie is better. Of our seven only one actually likes the flavored hairball medicine, and he,of course is the only one who doesn't need it.

You probably already know about this but I'll mention it anyway! When my cat would get hairballs, I'd smear Vaseline on his feet so he'd lick it off. Helped the hairball come out easier.

oh! i hate when the kitties get sick, it hurts my heart. my poor littlest one has a cold, he sneezes and sneezes. sounds like one of those dog squeaky toys and he looks so startled that he sounds like that. poor thing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful cat. We switched our cats-- at least trying it out-- to a food that cuts down on throwing up from hair balls. So far so good. My daughter had discovered it and it helped her cats also.

ReplyDeletePandora is throwing up a lot as she gets older, mostly spit and hairballs. Occasionally she eats too fast or Charlie upsets her and her entire undigested dinner can come up again.
But she knows sleep is the best medicine. Cats know best!
Charlie is very rarely sick, probably because he eats almost all dry food and very little wet food, so that keeps his hairballs to a minimum - amazing considering his extreme fluffiness..!!

ReplyDeleteYou can actually teach your cat to leave hairballs in the cat box. Just pick them up and put them there, and show your cat. Even if they come up elsewhere, your cat will often take the hairball to the box. You can also minimize fur balls by petting your cat EVERY DAY while wearing latex surgical gloves. Groom from little pink nose to tail, then chest and underparts. This dislodges hairs ready to come out better than brushing, and keeps dander on the glove instead of in the air. It also distributes natural oils and removes excess which discourages matting. My vet says cats love it because it feels like another cat's tongue. It also gives you a chance to check for scrapes, skin irritation etc. This is indeed a labor of love for cataholics.
